There is an antidote that can reverse the deadly effects of an opioid overdose.
The Town of New Windsor is proud to host free NARCAN training for the community on Tuesday, April 24.
With the help of a federal grant through a partnership with the state, at no cost to taxpayers or attendees, the Town of New Windsor is urging all members of the public to participate in this critical free NARCAN training.
The training will run from 6 to 7 p.m. on April 24 at New Windsor Community Center, New Windsor Town Hall Complex, 555 Union Ave. in New Windsor.
If interested, please RSVP to Colin Schmitt by email at cschmitt@newwindsor-ny.gov
Naloxone has been fundamental in the efforts to decrease rates of fatal overdoses.
This training teaches first responders, likely opioid overdose witnesses and community members to understand, recognize, respond to and reverse opioid overdoses using a naloxone rescue kit.
Participants will receive a free naloxone rescue kit after completing the training. This training is modeled after the evidence-based SAMHSA Opioid Overdose Prevention Toolkit.
New Windsor Supervisor George Green said, “We are proud to offer free NARCAN training and rescue kits at our community center. This training can put you in a position to save a friend, family or neighbors life. Please do not hesitate to register for free today.”
